Combining artificial and collective intelligence to harness the power of citizens’ discussions for better decision-making
The transformative power of Artificial Intelligence is widely noticed and will be used by organizations, cities, and nations who wish to stay competitive and innovative. However, if we delegate more and more of the thinking to machines, we are not necessarily any wiser for it. It is hard to investigate exactly why machine learning can recommend a particular decision, and we certainly don’t want our systems to reflect the biases that exist in the data we use to train them. This presentation will demonstrate an approach that uses AI to help decisionmakers to access the untapped potential of public discourse for building knowledge in natural language, fighting disinformation and making us all collectively more intelligent.

FDI 4.0 as a new model for competitiveness and economic growth
The convergence of a number of challenging developments and forces is taking place globally and being accelerated by Covid-19: declining FDI flows and heightened competition for FDI, digital transformation and Industry 4.0. These developments can also create many opportunities for countries in the nearby future. Countries can (re) define strategies and tools crafted to respond to these opportunities and create growth engines that both support the future of trade, economic growth, employment and decent jobs. Yet unlocking such opportunities will require governments and IPAs to rethink traditional approaches to FDI in general and the promotion and facilitation of FDI in particular and develop a new approach, FDI 4.0. This panel will discuss how policymakers can rethink economic growth, competitiveness and redefine existing models of FDI re-develop new innovative solutions that change the competitive and economic landscape of their country.
