Marc Sanderson is Malaga, Spain´s first Director of International Economic Development. Since he joined the City of Malaga in 2009, his primary responsibilities are to attract direct foreign investments, to assist local businesses with their internationalization, to expand relationships with foreign universities and to support the overall economic development in the area. Marc coordinates international projects, conferences, visits and trade missions while at the same time defining the international components of the city´s strategic plan including promoting the innovative ecosystem, Malaga Valley, and the international Smart City pilot projects. Before working in Malaga, Mr. Sanderson was the Chief of Staff to the United States Ambassador to the Kingdom of Spain and the Principality of Andorra at the U.S. Embassy in Madrid, Spain. He also worked for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in Washington D.C. from 2002 to 2005. Marc began his professional career in Dallas with Deloitte Consulting, a Global Management and Technology Consulting Firm. Mr. Sanderson holds a Bachelor of Science in Management Science and a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.
