Christian Kingombe
Co-Founding Managing Partner

Christian Kingombe is a Danish & Congolese (DRC) citizen who in March 2017 co-founded the 4IP Group LLC where he is the Managing Partner after a long career working for a number of International Organizations and Think Tanks, including DIIS, ODI, OECD, UNCTAD, ILO, UNECA, AUC, and African Development Bank (2012-2015), where he was the Chief Regional Integration Officer first in the Trade Division and subsequently in the Regional Infrastructure Division. After leaving the AfDB, he has carried out several EC & GIZ funded consultancy assignments focusing on Trade, Transit & Transport Facilitation within ECOWAS, Tripartite-FTA & AfCFTA (Trade in Services).
He is simultaneously the GP of a new Tech Impact Venture Capital Fund – The Invisible Heart Impact Fund (IHV2), which takes minority stakes while also acting as a trusted advisor in board capacity in high growth, high impact TechStart-ups in Global South (Tripartite-FTA) that demonstrate commercial viability in addressing social and socio-environment obstacles and challenges. His IMM advisory services for AMs & SMEs is based on SDG Impact Standards accredited trainer status (tbc).
He has also obtained private equity experience by being an integral part of the 4IP Impact Infrastructure Fund-1’s (IIF-1, currently put on hold) Management Team (2019-2021), which targeted a fund size of $150 Mn to have been invested in Sustainable Transport Infrastructure, Renewable Energy and Health PPP projects in a few selected countries across Africa, South East Asia and Central Asia. All the prospective infrastructure projects were SDG-aligned and some had been subjected to an Independent ESG Assessment according to the Global Infrastructure Basel Foundation (GIB) Sustainable and Resilient (SuRE) Standards. This strong ESG approach in March 2021 received the Solar Impulse Efficient Solution Label. On 26th of April 2021 The management team presented the IIF-1 at the 5th UNECE International People-First PPP Forum. The knowledge acquired at IIF1 was then transferred to the management team (GPs) of African Infrastructure Fund, where he is acting as their ESG advisor while assisting with the fundraising and marketing of this African-based PE Asset Management Fund. This people and planet first infrastructure development and financing approach was promoted at the AxessImpact-led session at the 2nd Building Bridges event.
He was a co-founder and an active member of the GSGII National Advisory Board for Impact Investing in Zambia (from January 2018 to September 2021) as well as currently being a Member of the Board of the Swiss Impact Investing Association (SIIA) (Swiss-NABII Taskforce member).
He has earned a Ph.D. in Applied Development & Transport Economics at successively Centre for Development and Poverty Reduction (2004-2007) & Centre for Environmental Policy (2008-2010) at Imperial College London & University of London (2004-2010), UK, as well as a MSc. & BSc. from Economics Department at the University of Copenhagen (1993-1999, 2002), Denmark.
Finally, Dr. Christian Kingombe, as recently been appointed as member of the first cohort of correspondents for the influential Impact Entrepreneur Magazine. Prior to that appointment he has written more than 125 articles, working papers, book chapters, reports, policy briefs, newsletter/paper articles and blogs. He has also written widely on development finance; infrastructure financing & public private partnerships, regional integration, trade and transport; and sustainable/impact investing issues.
